Aspirates were obtained from two depths within the vertebral body and were quantified relative to matched, bilateral aspirates from the iliac crest that were obtained from the same patient at the same time.
Out of 20 patients, 17 demonstrated successful closure of their septal perforations, consistent with an 85 % success rate.
Patient's age, gender, fistula tract characteristics, and number of previous closure attempts was similar in both groups.
Other complications were not recorded.
