Sarah Harding speaks about rehab, says she was a 'mess'
Sarah Harding's decision to enter rehab was undoubtedly a very wise one - particularly since she went to that nice one with horses in Arizona instead of Celeb Big Brother without cameras, aka The Priory, but we're not sure if following the trip up with a Hello! exclusive features in the 12 steps... Perhaps it's in the small print at the bottom, alongside the payment options...?
As everyone else slumps alongside their Beroccas, milk thistle tables and salt and vinegar Discos, Sarah Harding has revealed that she's now been four weeks sober, which seems fairly impressive since she's not only had the Christmas run-up in that time but also her 30th birthday...Talking to Hello!, she explained:
"The day I left for rehab, I was in such a mess. I’ve been told by those close to me that was when I hit my worst.
"I was crying hysterically. I felt ashamed, embarrassed, terrified – my emotions were all over the place."
"I was so down but I just tried to keep busy and, to numb myself, I was drinking more. It was my way of escaping.
"... I saw Nicola and Kimberley for dinner. I wasn’t in a good state at all – I was very hungover. But the first thing I wanted to do was open a bottle of wine. I know they were really worried about me.
"I'’ve turned 30 now and, although there will always be a bit of the rock chick in me, I’m trying to embrace my softer and more feminine side. I’ve realised I can socialise without booze."
Considering she looks more mid-thirties than her usual forties in the accompanying photoshoot, it's clearly working for her. If she keeps it up, she might be looking her correct age in time for the Girls Aloud reunion - ie about what she looks now.
