Sarah Harding and her ex boyfriend could both face charges over New Year fight

To say that Sarah Harding has been having a shit time as of late is an understatement. It's a bit like saying Nadine Coyle hasn't really done that well as a solo artist. The difference with Sarah, though, is that Saint Cheryl is allegedly planning to whisk her off to Los Angeles on a rescue mission which will obviously make all her problems vanish, but until then it's all rather grim and depressing.

So, all was looking fairly promising for Sarah Harding at the end of last year - she'd emerged from rehab, allegedly spent the night of her 30th birthday alone in a hotel room, before heading to the UK countryside to make like Lily Allen with her new non-showbiz-y man friend (above). Then it all went spectacularly tits up over the weekend.

On new year's day she was taken to hospital in Austria following an alleged clash with said boyfriend, Theo De Vries. Details are sketchy, with her saying it was him who instigated the violence, and him counter-arguing that it was her. So now they've both facing court.

Initially she was pictured with a bandage on her hand, with a fellow hotel guest telling The Sun:

"There was banging and screaming and a few guests came out into the corridor.

"It sounded like a terrible fight. By the early hours people had had enough and someone called the police.

"It was obviously a very serious tiff indeed. There was a lot of screaming and shouting.

"Sarah was taken to hospital because she was hysterical after the row. She was crying and screaming and clearly in a lot of distress."

However, Theo spoke directly to the paper shortly afterwards, which was accompanied by a sad-face shoot showing what appeared to be a bite mark and black eye, saying:

"I have a big black eye. Sarah bit me on my leg and yesterday I went to the hospital to get an injection.

"It's very dangerous, I have a big scar on my leg now with five teeth marks.

"She threw an ashtray at my head, hitting my eye. She gave me a bloody nose. Don't forget that she is a very good kick-boxer. She has done a lot of kick-boxing in the past.

"I want everyone to know that I am a normal decent man. I didn't hit Sarah one time."

On her bandaged hand, he added:

"I really had to laugh at that picture. Sarah is an actress and don't forget it."

Actually, we had.

Anyway, an insider from her camp responded, saying:

"Sarah is still really shaken up. She has decided to press charges once she has had time to recover.

"She was acting in self defence. She bit Theo because she was on the ground and it was her last line of defence.

"She had deliberately flown to Austria to avoid the temptation of drinking. Theo turned up and hit the bottle when she told him their relationship was over."

Meanwhile, an actual police officer said: 

"A report on both cases has been filed with the prosecutor and the police case is now closed."
